We’ve all been there: Your math teacher’s explaining the basics of the Pythagorean Theorem, the hypotenuse and all kinds of right triangles – and you’re bored catatonic. To prevent yourself from falling into a coma, you’ve entertained yourself with doodles around your math notebook. If you could only find a way to use your doodles to understand mathematical theories, right? Well, apparently, you can.
The videos below are made by recreational “mathemusician” Vi Hart where she basically explains infinity, factoring, and other mathematical stuff that are normally completely abstract ideas for you. She talks really fast, draws a mean elephant, and you may find yourself enjoying the doodling and math at the same time. Check out the videos below.
The North Korean government has denied the existence of concentration camps in the country despite intel from other governments (spies!) and stories from former prisoners. One would be inclined to think that maybe the death camp is just another made up story to further stain Kim Jong Il’s reputation because the stories are just too ghastly.
According to reports and former prisoners, the camps hold more than 200,000 North Korean citizens including men, women and even children. They are said to be tortured or killed by firing squad and stoning. The ones who survive are forced into labor and are given a diet of “rats, snakes, frogs, insects” and even excrement.
The images that surfaced quite recently from Google Earth are said to prove the existence of these death camps. One former prisoner who was held in the Yodok camp (which is about 70 miles from Pyongyang and hidden in the mountains) was detained with his fmaily for 10 years. These images, he says, shows that the camp has grown since he escaped the camp, which could only mean that they are now holding more prisoners there so more guards are needed.
Now, here’s another viral video that’s made from clips posted on Youtube. The video is sure to make you and everyone else who sees this video laugh. Laughter is, after all, infectious.
Some people just aren’t cut out to be crooks. It’s a profitable “job”, sure, but some of these crooks are always at the risk of getting caught by the police, thwarted by a 90-year old grandma, or worse, they end up getting laughed at. Yep, some bad guys are either just too drunk, too high, too clumsy or too stupid to “properly” do what they’re there to do: rob people. Some crooks ended up getting wrestled by 60-year old men, while the more fortunate ones just end up getting laughed at in the face as they attempt to steal from grocery store owners and other people.
Check out these three crooks right here:
Robber gets caught while trying to claim reward
On August 31, a burglar broke into the Gold Mind Jewelers store and took some 100 rings worth $10,000. The owner, Mark Multari, said that the robber knew exactly what he wanted to take, passing a couple of laptop displays and watches on his way to the stand holding the jewelries. It was an almost perfect crime as the store’s alarm had failed, allowing the robber to escape.
Now, this is where the robber’s stupidity (or maybe ill-conceived but well-meaning plan) kicked in: he offered to “help in any way” with the case when the owner put up an unspecified reward for the capture of the crook. The robber was planning to pose as a witness and claim the reward money. Unfortunately for him, the Police were already on to him – they had found the stolen items which were sold to pawn shops and stores by the crook. He was charged with the crime.
Before you get a tattoo, you need to remember this: While tattoos are no longer considered permanent, it’s expensive and physically painful to have one removed. Copious amounts of alcoholic beverages and bad relationship decisions are the usual culprits, and people end up with tattoos they’d regret at some point in their lives. Here are some examples of said ill-advised and ill-conceived tattoos.
Connect the Dots
Unless you want to make yourself a walking activity book, then this tattoo may not be for you. Sharpie not included.
Eyes at the Back of Your Head, Literally
It’s all right if you’re trying to scare little children and small forest animals, but adults may find this funny – or just plain creepy.
Face or Name of Current Object of Affection
We’ll go out on a limb here and say that it’s probably okay to get a beloved family member’s portrait or name to drawn indelibly to your skin since they aren’t likely to break up with you.

Okay, so Aquaman is at the butt of a good solid number of jokes, but the real life counterpart of the superhero is actually much, much cooler. Meet Sulbin from the Bajau people in Southeast Asia. He can dive down to depths of 20m (around 65ft) on one breath. Don’t believe us? Check out the video:
If you held your breath as long as Sulbin did, he’s still one up from you. He’s diving at depth, with underwater pressures bearing down at him. Were you furtively checking the video for signs of gills? We assure you, we were too. Suddenly being able to stay underwater for long periods of time, hunting fish while you’re at it, has become a cool ability huh?
You’ve probably seen football, baseball and basketball fans paint their faces with their favorite teams’ logos or flags. That shows dedication and real support for their teams. Other people have their faces painted for artistic reasons, for Halloween, or just for fun. Artist James Kuhn has created a project featuring unique and varied face paintings.
If you’re a parent, then you must know how difficult it is to wake up your child in the morning, regardless of his or her age. When the kid decides to sleep in especially on a school day, you’ll have to be either very patient or very creative to wake him up. One father decides to be cool (and geeky) when waking up his four-year old child. Take a look at the video below and let’s see if you can figure out what the father’s singing.
Here’s another cool dad who you might have heard of before. Dale Price decided to play the best prank on his kid Rain who just entered his sophomore year. Every morning, dad would stand at his front lawn all costumed out and wave goodbye at his kid riding the school bus. According to Rain, it was embarrassing at first to see his father dressed up as a princess, a mermaid or as Anakin Skywalker waving at his bus. It was obvious, however, that his son appreciated the effort. The other kids in the bus also looked forward to the father’s costume every day, and this little ritual from the cool dad somehow became popular among other kids and their neighbors. Check out some of his costumes below.
At least once in your life, you’ve shared living quarters with somebody else – most probably back in college. If you have and switched roommates while you were at it, then you’re probably well acquainted with the different monsters that lurk in college dormitories.
One good example is the Ghost. You never see your roommate, but you feel his/her presence in the form of sheets on the other bed magically changing when you’re not looking or you running out of milk and cereals at a rate that suggests that another person is eating breakfast other than yourself. You’re quite sure you have a roommate… or don’t you?
CollegeHumor educates us on the other types of roommates you may or may not have lived with in this video. Check it out:
People – especially those who wield power and have enough riches – can demand for whatever they want, and they usually get them. This holds true even after these people’s deaths, especially if they’ve specifically stated these demands in their last wills and testaments. Not all requests though are rational, but they’re requests nonetheless and their family and friends usually honor them. Below are some of the most unusual requests made by famous personalities in their last wills.
William Shakespeare
In his last will and testament, Shakespeare requested that his wife, Anne Hathaway, receive his “second best bed”, arousing suspicions about the state of their relationship. During Shakespeare’s time, it was not uncommon to leave a bed to a family member or friend upon death, mainly because a bed that wasn’t infested with fleas or vermin was expensive.
Benjamin Franklin
In his will, Benjamin Franklin stated that he wished his daughter will not engage in “the expensive, vain ad useless pasttime of wearing jewels”. He had a very valid reason for this request though: he owned a portrait of King Louis XVI that had 408 diamonds studded in its frame. He wanted to prevent his daughter from removing the diamonds from the frame.
Harry Houdini
Famous escape artist, Harry Houdini, instructed his wife to hold an annual seance so that he could reveal himself to her. His wife religiously held a seance every Halloween for 10 years, but Houdini never “showed up”.
John Bowman
John Bowman wanted his household to prepare a meal every night after his death in case he and his deceased family return to their home hungry. He believed that he and his family would be reincarnated together, so to make this request possible, he set up a trust worth $50,000. This would pay off the servants nad help maintain his mansion.
Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens wanted to have a simple funeral upon his death, requiring attendees not to wear a scarf, a black bow, a cloak, a long hatband and other common funeral garb. He also requested that the funeral not be made public. Unfortunately, other people had different ideas. His funeral was a national event attended by people dressed in full funeral regalia. All his requests were promptly ignored.
