Greenest building to be constructed in Seattle
While some buildings use the term “green” loosely, a building in Seattle is slated to be a green building in the complete sense of the word. According to reports, the building is going to be built in a 10,000 square foot parcel and is going to rise to 6 stories high. While it won’t win awards in the height department, it will be sporting some of the coolest systems available. The building, called the Bullitt Center, will be able to use rainwater, generate its own power, and take care of its own sewage.
The Bullitt Center will be the first ever building of its kind in the world, though twelve more buildings like it are slated to be built in Seattle. Denis Hayes, foundation director at the Bullitt Foundation, said in an interview:
We started thinking, why not build the kind of building we’ve been encouraging everybody else to do? Instead of moving the bar a little bit, we decided, OK, probably we’re not going to build more than one building, let’s try to do it right. Let’s try to do everything at once. I’m not sure we knew how big a bite we were taking.
Well, it’s definitely something we call all look forward to. In the meantime, check out the building’s concept art.
